Introduction to the Bahá’í Faith in Boise, Idaho, USA

Throughout history, God has sent to humanity a series of divine Educators—known as Manifestations of God—whose teachings have provided the basis for the advancement of civilization. These Manifestations have included Abraham, Moses, Krishna, Zoroaster, Buddha, Jesus, Muḥammad, and others. Bahá’u’lláh, the latest of these Manifestations of God, explained that the religions of the world come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from one God. In view of the conditions of the world, would it not be wise to pay heed to the latest chapter written to address the urgent needs of today?

Bahá’ís are the followers of Bahá’u’lláh, an Arabic title which translates as the Glory of God.

Bahá’ís believe the crucial need facing humanity is to find a unifying vision of the future of society and of the nature and purpose of life. Such a vision unfolds in the writings of Bahá’u’lláh. The conviction that we belong to one human family is at the heart of the Bahá’í Faith. The principle of the oneness of humankind is “the pivot round which all the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh revolve”. The message brought by Bahá’u’lláh inspires individual transformation and large scale transformation of community, nations, and our whole world, infusing a new spirit of love and inspiring service to humanity.

Bahá’ís reside all over the world in well over 100,000 localities. Well over 10,000 of these have annually elected Local Spiritual Assemblies comprising nine adult Bahá’ís serving as trustees of the community. Boise is one such locality.
